About The Feral Cat Rescue Project
The Feral Cat Rescue Project photo blog is an attempt to document the lives of feral cats and their plight. I do my best to feed and care for them, and to protect them from danger. The Feral Cat Rescue Project is not a 501(c)3 charity; it's just the effort of one impoverished artist.
~ Chriss Pagani

Today, October 15, 2012, is Blog the Change for Animals. There are many many good people out there who engage daily in selfless actions to help change the course of life for many of our furry and 'unfurry' friends. I want to highlight one of those people.

Chriss has literally given her all for the care and feeding of the feral cats that she has devoted her life to. Through her beautiful photography, she has allowed a glimpse into the lives of those that are too often considered unworthy of a place on the earth. Her own tragic background has perhaps allowed her to experience a deeper empathy than most toward the plight of these kitties. The loss of her own cat several years ago certainly played a large part as well in her current efforts to provide a safe place for these feral felines.

Flojo

She has captured and neutered dozens over the years through the help of a local vet and used to house them in an old trailer on her sister's farm property. Sadly, an electrical fire earlier this year wiped out the trailer and as of this writing, I am not sure if she has yet found a place for the 30 or 40 that depend on her to winter over. But she continues to feed and care for them as best as she can through her sales of her art and photos and donations of other caring cat lovers.

Her blog header states:

Photos of feral cats and rescue cases. Full of beauty and sadness, feral cats are not trespassers nor are they alien invaders: feral cats are part of our natural world. This photo-blog documents the lives of feral cats; raw and real. It is not a place for studio portraits or carefully photoshopped pictures of fluffy purebred kittens. Real life is not always pretty, as you will see. This is the feral life.

Please visit her blog. You will find many gorgeous photos as well as her full story along with links to her art and photography and other selling venues. I included a couple of them here. And please consider a donation. A little can go a long way!

God Bless you, Chriss! And thank you!

Monday MEWsings presents Artistically Created Cat Photo Cards

          JoysBarnLions

Welcome to another week of Monday MEWsings! The PURRson I have chosen for today's post is not only a member of the Cat Avis Unite Team on Etsy, but  also a believer in spay and neuter programs for feral cat populations. Her shop is full of  charming photos and artistically altered photos of sweet kitties in the form of note cards. ( And one lone dog photo!) Your purchase will serve as a delight to your eyes AND provide help for the feral kitties in Joy's neck of the woods!

"I created Barn Lions to help control the overpopulation of cats. I donate profits to help spay and neuter feral cats. Barn Lions was named after one of my barn cats who looked just like a little lion when it was a kitten. I began taking photographs of cats as a hobby. I work with the images to bring out a more enchanting dimension of the cat. I've been printing my images on note cards and giving them as gifts, now I offer them for sale. You can find out how Barn Lions is helping cats by visiting my website at www.barnlions.com."

Click on the photos for more information and purchasing.

THANK YOU for your kind heart, Joy!

Mondays sure do come quickly! At least I have a few things to look forward to, THIS being one of them! Today I am featuring two shops from the Cat Avis Unite team on Etsy.   The requirements to be on this team are few. In fact, there's only one! At some point in time you have had a cat as an avatar in your shop! Many of us keep our kitty avis up all the time. And if you are like MABJewelry, the captain, your avi will often sport interesting hair styles from Donald Trump to Farrah Fawcett! Such a fun team! Hope you enjoy my picks today from TheCheekyGirl and CelticCatPhotos!

IT'S FURBABY FRIDAY!!
And we have the cutest pair of kitties, Chancellor and Roscoe!
Their Dad, Allen,is a wonderful photographer and just opened his Etsy shop in May.
He will receive 50 FREE TWEETS this next week!

We recently went to our usual shelter to adopt ONE cat. And there he was; Chancellor....a done deal.....or so we thought! While waiting in line to fill out the forms, the long time proprietor and owner asked if we had seen the note on the cage.
"Which note?," I asked.
"The one that said - 'These two cats must be adopted together'", she replied.
"But why? We have adopted singles before?"
"These two are special", she explained. "They belong together and are inseparable."
"Are you sure???," I asked.
I guess she was !!!

So thus came Roscoe.

And the surprises and laughter began. These two are simply funny!! They love everything. Nothing is out of bounds....even the warmth of my laptop, where I do most of my work.

.....and now into the mind of the kitties!

Hey, Roscoe! ROSCOE!! WAKE UP!!

Dad is gone.....and he left the laptop on! Ya know that Etsy thing he joined? It's our big chance to become famous! So let's butter up the CEO's there with a little convo....

Yeah!! That's it!! We kitties ROCK!!

Oh No...QUICK! I think he's coming...!

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.......

I really don't want them to grow up. But they will. I can only hope they stay bonded, because this is just too special!

Kudos to Kay's animal shelter, and their intuition that Roscoe and Chancellor belong together!

Please welcome Allen and his furry friends to Etsy by leaving a comment and visiting his shop!

IT'S FURBABY FRIDAY!!

MEET LORENZO THE CAT
THIS WEEKS RECIPIENT OF 50 TWITTER TWEETS!

Just Thinking 4 x 6 print

Lorenzo is no ordinary cat!
Joann Biondi adopted Lorenzo when he was a few weeks old and instantly sensed that he had an unusual character for a cat. He did not purr and rarely meowed, but he watched her intently with a face that said, “Tell me what to do.” By the time he was three months old he was sitting up on command and jumping through hoops.
Lorenzo liked stealing panties from the dirty laundry basket. One day Biondi got mad at him for this and decided to get even. She put a spandex tank top over his head and onto his body. Lorenzo was unfazed. He adjusted his shoulders, threw out his chest, and looked at her with an expression that said, “You think this bothers me? Well it doesn’t. In fact, I like it.” He walked around wearing that tank top for days.

That was when Biondi suspected she had a natural model on her hands.

Tuscany 5 x 7 print

She took a few snapshots of Lorenzo wearing clothes and the images were so funny people laughed out loud. She then took more, and realized that for Lorenzo, the camera was catnip. He loved it. And he loved wearing clothes. It was as if he knew that that’s what he was put on the planet to do. Wear clothes, pose for the camera, and make people laugh.

A Maine Coon with the patience of a Buddhist monk and the soul of a philosopher, Lorenzo the Cat was born on Halloween and tossed in a garbage can at birth—a traumatic ordeal that he has fully recovered from without the aid of psychotherapy.
He loves going for walks on a leash and thinks that people who laugh at him for doing so are jerks. His hobbies include tormenting lizards, peeing in potted plants, napping on good books, chasing rubber bands, eating refrigerator dust, studying the physics of toilette water swirl, and contemplating the meaning of life.

I hope you will visit Lorenzo's Etsy shop to see more fascinating funny pictures!!
