About The Feral Cat Rescue Project
The Feral Cat Rescue Project photo blog is an attempt to document the lives of feral cats and their plight. I do my best to feed and care for them, and to protect them from danger. The Feral Cat Rescue Project is not a 501(c)3 charity; it's just the effort of one impoverished artist.
~ Chriss Pagani

Today, October 15, 2012, is Blog the Change for Animals. There are many many good people out there who engage daily in selfless actions to help change the course of life for many of our furry and 'unfurry' friends. I want to highlight one of those people.

Chriss has literally given her all for the care and feeding of the feral cats that she has devoted her life to. Through her beautiful photography, she has allowed a glimpse into the lives of those that are too often considered unworthy of a place on the earth. Her own tragic background has perhaps allowed her to experience a deeper empathy than most toward the plight of these kitties. The loss of her own cat several years ago certainly played a large part as well in her current efforts to provide a safe place for these feral felines.

She has captured and neutered dozens over the years through the help of a local vet and used to house them in an old trailer on her sister's farm property. Sadly, an electrical fire earlier this year wiped out the trailer and as of this writing, I am not sure if she has yet found a place for the 30 or 40 that depend on her to winter over. But she continues to feed and care for them as best as she can through her sales of her art and photos and donations of other caring cat lovers.

Her blog header states:

Photos of feral cats and rescue cases. Full of beauty and sadness, feral cats are not trespassers nor are they alien invaders: feral cats are part of our natural world. This photo-blog documents the lives of feral cats; raw and real. It is not a place for studio portraits or carefully photoshopped pictures of fluffy purebred kittens. Real life is not always pretty, as you will see. This is the feral life.

Please visit her blog. You will find many gorgeous photos as well as her full story along with links to her art and photography and other selling venues. I included a couple of them here. And please consider a donation. A little can go a long way!

God Bless you, Chriss! And thank you!

Monday MEWsings presents Artistically Created Cat Photo Cards

          JoysBarnLions

Welcome to another week of Monday MEWsings! The PURRson I have chosen for today's post is not only a member of the Cat Avis Unite Team on Etsy, but  also a believer in spay and neuter programs for feral cat populations. Her shop is full of  charming photos and artistically altered photos of sweet kitties in the form of note cards. ( And one lone dog photo!) Your purchase will serve as a delight to your eyes AND provide help for the feral kitties in Joy's neck of the woods!

"I created Barn Lions to help control the overpopulation of cats. I donate profits to help spay and neuter feral cats. Barn Lions was named after one of my barn cats who looked just like a little lion when it was a kitten. I began taking photographs of cats as a hobby. I work with the images to bring out a more enchanting dimension of the cat. I've been printing my images on note cards and giving them as gifts, now I offer them for sale. You can find out how Barn Lions is helping cats by visiting my website at www.barnlions.com."

Click on the photos for more information and purchasing.

THANK YOU for your kind heart, Joy!

Monday MEWsings Picks from the Cat Avis Unite Team!

Over at the Cat Avis Unite Team on Etsy, we share our new listings with one another. After PURRusing this fine feline friend's shop this week, I decided I MUST show it off on Monday MEWsings! So meet Lilybellesjewels! You will love her jewelry and cute works of art, many of them cat themed after her dear kitty, Lily Belle.  But you will also see the following at the top her page, which is another reason why I wanted to highlight her shop. It is only a portion of the announcement which is well worth reading in its entirety. It ends with the quote.

Welcome to our shop! Lily Belle and I would like to mention that 10% of all sales will be donated to Mt. Olive TNR Project, a tiny Flanders NJ based group that is doing amazing work on a very small budget, and a small circle of very dedicated volunteers who are making a huge difference in the lives
of feral colonies in their area.

"The smallest feline is a masterpiece".
-- Leonardo da Vinci

All of the pieces in this shop have been pronounced "the cats meow" by Lily Belle herself! Enjoy your PURRusings!

Remember that your purchase helps improve the lives of kitties!

JULY 15: Blog the Change for Animals!

Blog the Change

January 15th, April 15th, July 15th and October 15th are Blog the Change for Animals days! Highlight those who help animals, give, blog, tweet, or do whatever you can think of to encourage others to care for our furry friends!

Here is one woman who has done that...sometimes all alone. She tirelessly cares for dozens and dozens of feral cats that come to her little farm home. She catches those she can to neuter them then releases them. She does everything possible to tame the little ones for adoption. She is a talented photographer and has a blog that 'tells it like it is' in the feral world. Some posts are cute, some are funny, some are sad. But she tells about their lives in hopes of bringing light to their need and love in the form of a home for them.
Chriss...thank you for your beautiful, real life blog and your unending efforts to change the lives of the kitties you so love.

Chriss posts on her blog regularly. This is the July 14th post. Please visit and encourage her efforts! She has a donation button to right. Those who work tirelessly loving others get tired sometimes! Send your kudos her way!

Two tabby feral cats, just relaxing and napping after breakfast. This is their most contented time.

I took too much time off for my birthday, probably, so I haven't posted much since the weekend. It happens. The kitties still get attention every day but I don't always schedule time to take pictures of them. This is also coyote season and I worry about how many cats we will lose. The most heartbreaking, of course, are the ones that were tamed as feral kittens and put up for adoption - but nobody adopted them. We lose some of those precious pets every year. :( It's so sad. I do what I can but I can't guard them 24/7 - if only I could. I wish there were more homes because I have several kitties that could be adopted and kept safe instead of living in danger among the colony.
