EASTER
Treasures Worth the Trudge

I don't think my kids ever participated in an Easter egg hunt. I always did a hunt of our own on Easter day. I gathered them all around, all five, six or seven...whoever was old enough...and began reading:
"My son,( I have six!) if you will receive my sayings,
And treasure my commandments within you,
Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding;
For if you cry for discernment.
Lift your voice for understanding;
If you seek her as silver.
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will discern the fear of the Lord
And discover the knowledge of God."
Proverbs 2:1-5 "...that is Christ Himself, in whom are hidden
all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."
Colossians 2:2,3

I would then hand them one clue and send them off! We had quite a bit of property then, and they had to trudge far and wide, up and down, over and under, and in and out of numerous places to find the next clue...until FINALLY... the last clue was found that pointed them to where the treasure was hidden. Many snowy and rainy days were met with eager treasure hunters seeking that prize. They had their sights set on finding what they deemed a treasure worth the trudge. And it WAS most of the time....I even tied money up in a tree one year!
I'm sure you get the point by now. How much effort do we expend when it comes to seeking the eternal treasures? Who or what gets the best of us? Are we as excited about finding new hidden truths from God as my kids were on those hunts? That was what I wanted to impress upon them while they were young so when they grew older, they would not depart from it!
Let's retrieve that child-like enthusiasm that is required in order to enter the Kingdom of God...Christ's rulership in our lives!

It's a Flannie!

Meet Cody Bear! Cody is the first in my new line of products for Gear4Guys. He is an all flannel plush polar bear that comes with flannel boxer shorts, a fishing pole, and three magnetic flannel fish. Gear4Guys tries to offer an assortment of items for the guy population out there, and now I am including little guys! Flannies will all have accessories that accompany the animal to foster creative imaginary play and hopefully get kids off the 'devices' that monopolize too many of their days. Everything is washable for easy care.
Cody is named after my 6th child who was here when I finished everything. He officially declared it "cool" after examining it! Cody is almost 16, plays soccer, loves the outdoors, hopes to go on a week long camping trip this summer, goes to Mexico in the summer for a missions outreach, and is really an awesome guy! He has lots of personality and character, is very fun loving, a great friend to many, and truly loves God. Can't ask for much more! I plan on naming five more Flannies after my other sons, and if I make a cat counterpart for my CatCalls shop, I will name her after my daughter.
You can read more about Cody Bear and his fun toys by clicking on his picture to your right or here:

I will host another Giveaway this weekend for Easter featuring some type of flannel plushie! Stay tuned!

Tooey...the MAN!

This is my man! Tooey...Too-Man-Chu...my little buddy. Andrew, my son, and I went to the pet store just for fun about 2 1/2 years ago. Just browsing...no purchase intended. But lo and behold....right as we walk in the door, in a large open glass tank, there sits (or runs) two guinea pigs. Oh how pretty the one was! Gray and bright white, pudgy physique, clear dark eyes...sooo handsome! I always wanted a gray one and in my 35 years of guinea pig ownership I never had one! And he was free...Just buy a bag of food! Well, you know what happened. Spartano was going home with me. "But Mom! What about the other one? He's all alone now!", Andrew remarked rather sadly. "I don't know if I want him, Andrew. He has a pointy nose and looks like a rat. I already have two and three will be enough." "You can't just leave him here by himself! Pleeeeease get him! He's free!" As the mom of seven kids, Andrew the youngest, I should have a grasp on this parenting thing by now. Kids seem to have better intuition on some things. Maybe because their brains aren't as clogged as ours are yet. Free. I like free. OK. So I took him. Ratatouille or Tooey. Only days later it became clear. Tano was a bore. Very little personality. Pretty, but boring. But Tooey....!!! Feisty, funny, frisky, friendly, and a complete joy! I can't imagine life without him now. Loving animals has taught my daughter and six sons gentleness, responsibility, sacrifice, joy, sorrow, unselfish giving, and has developed more character in them than I could have done myself. Pets change us from just animalkind, to mankind. We love you Tooey!
Proverbs 12:10
"A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal, But even the compassion of the wicked is cruel."

Meet Pete!

I just got back from Chicago visiting my son and daughter-in-law. They have two dogs, two guinea pigs, and two birds in their apt! It's always fun! We went to an indoor doggy park---Chicago loves dogs---where there was a giant dog bone shaped pool in the center. How fun to watch all those dogs play in the pool just like kids! Toby and Haylee were dead tired afterward...happy poochies!
I can't have dogs in my apt, but I do have PETE! He's my little stuffie that I send out with every order from my Gear4Guys shop. He's in all the listings at my Etsy shop giving his little opinions of the flannel products that are sold. He has inspired me to start a line of "FLANNIES", flannel stuffed animals. I hope to have some up this week!
Flannel is soft, comfortable, easy to care for, long lasting and 100% cotton! Checkout all the flannel items at www.Gear4Guys.etsy.com!

Fun Photo Game-TAG You're It!

just tagged me in this fun photo game...

The rules of this tag are:

This is a great picture of my father-in-law!
He was an avid fisherman. No doubt he was
happiest when he was out on his boat with
friends and family after the BIG Catch!
This photo captures the face of a man who
truly lived for the saying, "I'd rather be fishing"!
