IT’S FURBABY FRIDAY!

Today we meet a very happy kitty family that belongs to Etsy shop owner, Jennifer, from

Monkeycatproductions

Jennifer will receice 50 FREE TWEETS for being a part of Furbaby Friday!

I have had cats in my house since I moved to CT from PA. It started with finding a pair of black kittens in a junk yard that were only 4 weeks old. Merlin lived to be 20 years old (he went to cancer) and Corner lived to be 22 years old (it was her time).

Bagherra is a 12 year old black and white tuxedo kitty. We found him at a local lumber yard in a bird cage on the counter when he was about 7 weeks old. The guys that worked there found him on the steps that morning. My husband took him out of the cage, and he climbed up his arm, curled around his neck, purred, and would not let go. So he came home with us. He is the shy kitty but loves to wrestle with Buster.

Buster P. is the 18 lb tiger with HUGE paws. He is 8 years old. We found him under a dumpster at my old job. He was curled up on some trash where he somehow avoided being hurt when the dumpster was picked up. He was only 6 weeks old. I took him to my vet who said he was fine. Buster loves to clean our noses when we hold him in our arms.

He also loves to curl up with Lilu.

Lilu, Pooka, and Morgana, the three sisters, found us at the CT Human Society. They are 3 years old.

Lilu is a tiny tiger that weights about 8 lbs. She looks like a 6 month old cat. She likes to follow us from room to room. When she is happy she moves her tail ALOT!! She will climb anything!

Pooka is a tiger that weighs about 8 lbs also. She is small like her sister. She should have been a soccer star. She can get anything with her paws. She, too, will climb anything.

Morgana is a tiger with orange areas under the tiger stripes and weighs 10 lbs. She is a big mush kitty. She loves to roll on her back and play with a string….and is another climber.

Morgana and Lilu

The three girls will race through the house while the two boys just watch them. They all are great joys to have around. Cats are like potato chips. You can't have just one!

Jennifer makes the cutest stuffed kitties in her shop!

Visit, and you’ll probably end up longing, as I do, for your own!

IT’S FURBABY FRIDAY!

Hi folks! Tooey here! Boy, am I glad it’s Friday! I am relaxing in my cage after a week of waaaaay too much attention.

Andrew, who was supposed to be working on school, was being lazy so Mom put me on his head. Notice my supreme effort to grasp what little hair he has to stay on!

Then they thought I might look ‘cute’ in a pink puppet-YUCK! I am a BOY, people!!!

As you can see, I am a very loved Guinea Pig….though it is embarrassing at times.

Today I want to introduce you to some of my favorite Etsy friends. I look at them often and keep hinting to my mom to get me some for Christmas. These would look so cute peeking out of a stocking and are sure to entertain the human who is lucky enough to receive one. (Maybe they would leave me alone??)

Take a squeak…I mean peek at these fun shops! You’re sure to enjoy your visit to each one!

If you have a pet AND an Etsy, Artfire, or other online shop and would like to be featured here, please leave a comment below. Your pet and how you acquired him, along with your shop, will be posted and you will receive 50 FREE TWEETS on Twitter to my 4000+ followers the following week!

IT'S FURBABY FRIDAY!!

Today we meet a wonderful family of rescued pets who now live in a loving home with five children. Tammy has an Artfire and Etsy shop where she sells beautiful handmade knitted items. She will receive 50 FREE TWEETS next week! Here is her story!

"We have the best Mom in the world!"
Buddy & Mattie

We are a family that sincerely believes in the success of adoption! Along with our five children, we have 2 dogs, 1 bird, and 3 cats that came to us through adoption. It all began when my children and I started volunteering at a local animal shelter. We found our first dog, Buddy, down there. Buddy was covered in matted fur, smelled like very old bread, and had sores on his belly and chest. He was due for euthanization the following week. We brought him home, clipped and cleaned him, put him on a special diet, and after about 8 weeks he was like a whole new dog. We found out through the vet that he was part Yorkie and part Schnauzer. We’ve had Buddy for the last year and a half.

"Yeah-I'm talkin' to you!"

Buddy likes to “talk” to people. Everyone thinks he is so mean and vicious, because he will yip and howl in response to greetings. He really just wants to join in on the conversation! Once people realize that he has happy barks, they talk to him. He wags his little stub of a tail and is in his own element.

"This is what it feels like to be loved!"

In August of last year our county brought down a puppy mill. All of the dogs and puppies were brought to the shelter. Amongst those was the most adorable Yorkie girl I’d ever seen. When we first met Mattie, she was jumping up and down, tongue hanging out, and just so happy. Mattie follows me all over the place, never leaving my side. If I close her out of a room, she will lay by the door until I come back.

"Hey, Ma....FOOOOD! Hurry it up there!"

Tigress & Spooky

"I was here first!"

Sapphire

We also have our cockatiel, Captain Jack Sparrow, and our three cats, Spooky, Tigress, and Sapphire. Captain Jack was on Petfinder.com and we fell in love with him. After a very long trip across the state of Georgia and back, he’s been with us for the last three months. Jack likes to laugh. Whenever I laugh out loud, he will squawk “Ah, ha ha ha!” Spooky and Tigress were adopted from our groomer, who had rescued them when they were dropped off in his yard. He was allergic to cats, but took care of the kittens until they were old enough to be adopted. Sapphire was also the result of a dropped off mamma cat, but she was dropped in our neighborhood. We took in Sapphire after her momma disappeared. Our cats are all little comedians, loving and entertaining us whenever they can. They are all three about the same age, and the best of friends. They look out for each other and play their funny games each morning. Spooky likes to ambush the girls, usually by hiding on top of the banister and “dropping” in on them when they least expect it.

"Ahhhh....this is the rescued life. God bless my family."

There are so many wonderful things to be said about rescuing animals! I cannot tell you of a time when it was a mistake that we adopted. These animals all need care, and not everyone can afford to take care of the multitude that we do. There are many considerations, such as space, food, and vets. If we could not care for so many, we would not have them. Adoption is great, responsible adoption is better! Sometimes it is like a zoo around here. But most of the time we just feel really blessed to have our animal friends, sharing life and love with us. Never underestimate how much you can mean to one creature.

IT'S FURBABY FRIDAY!
Meet VELVET-the mostly Beagle!
This week's recipient of 50 Twitter Tweets!
Look at that sweet face!!
Velvet is the lucky taster of all her mom's baked doggie goodies that go into her Etsy store http://www.etsy.com/shop/CiaoHound
Double Decker Peanut Butter Cookie with Peanut Butter Centers - Dog Cookies Potato Pancake with Turkey - Allergen Free Guinea Pig and Rabbit Cookies - They look ugly and they don't smell great, but...

I'm sure you will agree that these treats look like they were made for humans, not pets! Yummy!

Velvet's Arrival
by her Mom
My DH and I decided it was time to get a dog, and so we both took a "compatibility" test on Yahoo. The only breed that showed up on both our lists was a beagle. We checked online for a list of breeders in our area and found one a few hours away. This couple bred beagles for hunting. The beagles had a blue tick hound mix to them so they're a little bit bigger than the typical beagle and I think it had a crazy side effect to her disposition as well, lol. (She only thinks about food, only cares about food, only wants food, 24/7). We went to meet her and the couple was amazed that we wanted her as a family pet and tried to warn us that we weren't getting the loving, loyal pet that we had in our German Shepherd. We laughed, "she'll be great." We got her in the car. She was all excited, her little butt wagging a mile a minute, and then it hit her - we're taking her away. She cried and pooed all the way home. When we finally got her inside the house she settled in on DH's lap and decided being inside wasn't so bad. At that moment, she accepted us as her servants, uh, I mean family.

Fierce Warrior Princess
From the beginning, we've always called her a "Fierce Warrior Princess" because she puts on quite a show whenever there's anything strange, scarey or unusual, although its very tongue in cheek. The morning after we got her, my husband came out in a black bath robe. Velvet freaked out and started jumping around barking her head off ... while hiding behind me.

Cat-a-phobia?
Another time we were strolling outside and encountered a very large cat. The cat hissed. Velvet ran back towards the front door. Once inside, she jumped onto the back of the couch, looked out the window where the cat had been and started barking like a mad dog, her bravery reaffirmed behind the safety of the window.

How to Kill aTrash bag
Her shining moment though, had to be with a trash bag. She was barking at an object floating across the lawn; a green trash bag. I went and stamped my foot on it to stop it from flying around and Velvet came running, grabbed a corner of it with her teeth and started to shake it, to "kill" it. I just loved how willing she was to attack as long it was safely subdued under my foot.

Velvet's mom, Shari, also manages the Pets Jubilee team on Etsy

AND the Petsjubilee shop where you can order pet samplers of fun goodies and toys for any pet!

IT'S FURBABY FRIDAY!!

MEET LORENZO THE CAT
THIS WEEKS RECIPIENT OF 50 TWITTER TWEETS!

Just Thinking 4 x 6 print

Lorenzo is no ordinary cat!
Joann Biondi adopted Lorenzo when he was a few weeks old and instantly sensed that he had an unusual character for a cat. He did not purr and rarely meowed, but he watched her intently with a face that said, “Tell me what to do.” By the time he was three months old he was sitting up on command and jumping through hoops.
Lorenzo liked stealing panties from the dirty laundry basket. One day Biondi got mad at him for this and decided to get even. She put a spandex tank top over his head and onto his body. Lorenzo was unfazed. He adjusted his shoulders, threw out his chest, and looked at her with an expression that said, “You think this bothers me? Well it doesn’t. In fact, I like it.” He walked around wearing that tank top for days.

That was when Biondi suspected she had a natural model on her hands.

Tuscany 5 x 7 print

She took a few snapshots of Lorenzo wearing clothes and the images were so funny people laughed out loud. She then took more, and realized that for Lorenzo, the camera was catnip. He loved it. And he loved wearing clothes. It was as if he knew that that’s what he was put on the planet to do. Wear clothes, pose for the camera, and make people laugh.

A Maine Coon with the patience of a Buddhist monk and the soul of a philosopher, Lorenzo the Cat was born on Halloween and tossed in a garbage can at birth—a traumatic ordeal that he has fully recovered from without the aid of psychotherapy.
He loves going for walks on a leash and thinks that people who laugh at him for doing so are jerks. His hobbies include tormenting lizards, peeing in potted plants, napping on good books, chasing rubber bands, eating refrigerator dust, studying the physics of toilette water swirl, and contemplating the meaning of life.

I hope you will visit Lorenzo's Etsy shop to see more fascinating funny pictures!!
