New Red, White, and Blue Art and Clothing!

I've been on the red, white, and blue kick lately and added these to my shops in the last week.

This first one came into being as I was considering the plight of the greyhound. The good news is that only seven states still allow racing. But that is also the bad news. One day it will be just a shadow from the past. It can't come soon enough.
Visit  http://www.grey2kusa.org/  and follow @grey2kusa on twitter for ongoing updates about  the state of the racing industry.

This watercolor pencil work was just for fun. Kittens are just so cute, and I envisioned a little CAT-det hiding away on July 4th, taking everything in.

Keeping with a red, white, and blue theme, I finally used this cheery polka dotted fabric to make a skirt. I love polka dots - they are always happy! Add a little bird and a few cats and it becomes triple happy!

Kitty Art for Sun-Loving Dreamy Cats

It was 80 degrees on Friday (4-20) ...so much like beach weather! The kitties were out having fun in the sun! Finding their favorite 'beam' and settling in for awhile is what makes life so pleasant....ahhh to be a cat....

dreaming about the day when you can float up into the trees and visit those feathered 'friends' and invite them  to share a meal.....oh what a delicacy!

Enjoy your weather while you have it, kitties - it's cold and getting ready to snow here!

Art work is available in my Catcalls shop. Click the pictures for more info.

Monday MEWsings - A Vintage Shop of CATS!

Vintage shops abound on Etsy. You can't look at a Treasury, click on a page of Pounce, or glance at Recently Listed Items without seeing vintage. BUT...you don't often see a vintage shop dedicated almost entirely to one theme. This week, as part of the ongoing Cat Avis Unite Team features, I have found one such shop! Libush is a fairly new shop and a vintage cat collector's dream! You will find Fabulous Feline Figurines from porcelain to pewter in  many PURRsonable poses.  Click on any of these listings to find more information. Or better yet - just check out the entire Libush shop!

Ink Drawings for Cat Lovers

For the cat lovers!

Have you ever seen black cats wandering around a pumpkin patch? So intriguing!
Card stock drawing in black and brown ink.

There are so many sad kitty stories out there. Always heartbreaking. I was doodling in bed last night and ended up listing this as it reflected my dreams of a cozy loving place where I wish all kitties could go.

Crazy Cute Raggedy Catnip Dolls and Catnip Bed

Mewmart was my focus this week! MewMart is a shop ONLY for cats. Kind of a cat's Walmart...only on a very small scale. I wanted to add a couple of new toys so I cut out these cute little pink polka dotted heads and felt backs. I added a face on the felt side but then thought I might as well add a face on the other side.

I was going to sew them and stuff them with catnip and polyfil. But they just didn't look  like enough fun. Cats like long skinny things to toss around. I know they really like the braided tails on my Snakey Mice . So how about a braided body? Floppy and fun...like Raggedy Ann.

They turned out much cuter this way and have got the funniest PURRsonalities!
I'm thinking I should make some non catnip ones  for dolls in my Catcalls shop.

I was on a roll and had an idea forming for a cat bed. I wanted to add catnip to it but also wanted to make it so the catnip could be removed, refilled, and replaced. I drew a nice fat kitty and cut three pieces of fabric...suede, fleece, and cotton.

After assembling them, I quilted the tummy to the back leaving a little opening at the bottom.

I made three little Nip Bits filled entirely with Organic catnip that can be placed inside the tummy. So kitty can both sleep and play on his fat cat nip bed!

Happy kitties = Happy owners!

Skirts & More Skirts from The Cat Rack

Last weekend was spent mostly on adding to my shop, The Cat Rack. It was created originally for just cat themed clothing. But I just decided to add a few other 'non-cat' clothing items. I'm even thinking about including a children's section. I really enjoy thinking up new styles and adding little bits here and there to make them  different. Many of the skirts are made from no pattern and are simply 'sew as you go' articles. But probably my favorite ones are those that I hand paint. They become unique pieces of wearable art that no one else in the world has! Here are a few of the ones I added recently.

Such sweet kitty fabric that needed nothing extra!

Three different calico fabrics make up this country ruffled skirt.

This is one of my favorites! A mix of applique and painting. I love the colors. too.

All are available in my shop. Just click the pictures or here

My Handmade Pink & Green Cat Fabric

I have a number of leftover pillowcase liners from my 'stuffing' of  cats and dogs in my shops. I buy regular pillows and use the fill for all my pillow pals and plushies. So I have all these liners that I have kept for various things. The most recent ones I have collected are a 60% cotton/40% polyester medium weight fabric. Much heavier than the  muslin that normally encases the polyfil. So I made my own fabric print!

I used green fabric pastels for the circles, black ink for the cats, then I took a thread spool and added petals around each circle with pink paint.

Each cat is different! So now I am thinking...what will I make with this 24" x 18" fabric? I thought a pillow sham might be nice with a pink envelope back and ruffle. But I also have more pieces and thought perhaps a summer top would be cute, too. So, I am looking for suggestions!
What do you think?
